Well wouldn't you know Bertha gave us a little lovin' after all. I know I had a good time at S-Turns NC last Monday. But Bertha is old news already, and in her wake
new systems have formed and are likely to bring us waves for this week.

I guess the biggest news is Cristobal, A small sized TS that is going to skim our shores on the most beautiful TS/Hurricane trajectory i've seen in a while. And while this sounds awesome, the truth is that Cristobal just doesn't have the power to pull in any mean ground swell. This is not to say he'll leave us totally empty handed, most likely we will see a small bump in the swell (waist high range possible) tomorrow into Wednesday morning.

But Jack, if Cristobal isn't that big than why are everybody's swell models Calling for huge waves on Thursday and Friday? Well thats because as Cristobal moves Northeast, a rather large sized inland low pressure system moves across the midwest and out to sea. This system shows the most potential for surf. Currently reports are saying that this system is going to move right off the Carolinas, and up the coast, but its looks to be heading a bit more north than i would like to see. Either way were talking about potentially chest to head high surf, and Fair+ to Good conditions with a light south west wind. These waves will start to show late Wednesday and stick around until Friday (ish).

So here is my forecast for this week: Look for knee to waist high waves from Cristobal tomorrow, nothing of great significance but fun surfable groundswell that will die probably around the afternoon high tide. wednesday will most likely be a lay day with bad weather. Thursday will have some chest high waves with possibly larger sized set waves. This system will stick around into Friday where it will begin to tapper off into the weekend. (This second system is very fickle at the moment so check back for changes and revisions. ) As for the QN: I give this swell a 6 out of 10, with best time to go being Thursday Noonish, Skunk Factor is high on account that its Monday and there are just way to many atmospheric events happening around us that could change something. (thats why you should check back) ~Jack Palmer
